In photography, like life, we are faced with choices. Taking the photo entails compositional choices, timing and a host of technical choices, just being where you are is the outcome of choices. One of the biggest decisions I make is: color or black and white. After that choice comes a slew of other processing choices. But, lest I get off track, I want to give an example of an image I took this morning while starting my day. It is the Fall season here in San Francisco, at least in front of my house (inside it is Chanukah and Christmas). While sweeping up the leaves I saw a familiar and rare thing.
